Channels: Telegram & WhatsApp

Aori supports three ways to chat: the built-in in-app chat, Telegram, and WhatsApp. You can use any combination — each channel and conversation thread stays fully isolated. Aori never mixes content between channels or between different chats on the same channel.

The in-app chat is the default way to interact with Aori. You can create multiple conversations, rename them, archive them, fork them, or delete them. See In-App Chat and Conversations for details.

Telegram gives Aori its own bot account — completely separate from your personal Telegram identity.

  1. Open Telegram and start a chat with @BotFather.
  2. Send /newbot and follow the prompts to create a new bot.
  3. Copy the bot token BotFather gives you (looks like 1234567890:ABCDef...).
  4. In Aori, go to Settings → Connections → Channels → Telegram.
  5. Paste the bot token and tap Connect.
  6. Open a chat with your new bot on Telegram and start messaging.
  • Your Telegram bot is private — only people you share the bot username with can message it.
  • Each Telegram chat (private, group, or thread) is tracked as a separate conversation.
  • Aori does not see your other Telegram chats or contacts.

WhatsApp links Aori to a real WhatsApp account you control — not a separate bot. This means you need a dedicated phone number for Aori’s WhatsApp.

  1. Get a secondary phone number (a prepaid SIM works fine).
  2. Register a WhatsApp account on that number using the official WhatsApp app.
  3. In Aori, go to Settings → Connections → Channels → WhatsApp.
  4. Scan the QR code with your secondary WhatsApp account to link it to Aori.
  5. Send a message to your linked WhatsApp number to start chatting.
  • WhatsApp is available on all platforms (Desktop, Android, iOS).
  • Each WhatsApp chat thread is tracked as a separate conversation.
  • Aori does not access your contacts or other WhatsApp chats.

You can connect both Telegram and WhatsApp at the same time, alongside the in-app chat. Each channel’s conversations are fully isolated — content never crosses channels.

All Personas you create are available in Telegram and WhatsApp. Type /<handle> in any message to switch Personas mid-conversation. See Personas for details.

To remove a channel, go to Settings → Connections → Channels, tap the channel, and select Disconnect.
