Personas
A Persona is a named identity for your Aori agent. You can create multiple Personas with different names, handles, and personalities, and switch between them in any chat using a simple slash command. One agent, many faces.
What a Persona Has
Section titled “What a Persona Has”Each Persona has:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Display name | The name Aori uses when it introduces itself (e.g. “Leo”) |
| Handle | The slug you type to switch (e.g. /leo) — lowercase, no spaces |
| Role | Assistant or Friend (see below) |
| Personality | A short description of tone and style |
Roles: Assistant and Friend
Section titled “Roles: Assistant and Friend”Assistant — Task-focused. Tools are on: Aori can access Gmail, Calendar, files, and other connected Skills. Memory is shared across conversations. Best for productivity, research, and scheduling.
Friend — Conversational. Tools are off: no access to external services. Memory is isolated — the Friend Persona does not see what the Assistant Persona knows. Best for journaling, casual chat, or creative exploration.
You can create custom Personas with any name and handle, and assign either role.
Creating a Persona
Section titled “Creating a Persona”- Go to Settings → Personas.
- Tap New Persona.
- Enter a display name, handle, and short personality description.
- Choose a role: Assistant or Friend.
- Tap Save.
Your new Persona is immediately available in all chats.
Switching Personas
Section titled “Switching Personas”Type /<handle> in any chat to switch to that Persona. For example:
/leo— switch to Leo/planner— switch to Planner/aori— switch to the default Persona
The switch takes effect for the rest of the conversation thread. Aori will introduce the new Persona on the first message after a switch.
Slash Commands
Section titled “Slash Commands”| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/<handle> | Switch to that Persona (e.g. /leo) |
/who | Shows which Persona is currently active |
/personas | Lists all Personas you have created |
/reset | Returns to the default Persona |
Context Isolation
Section titled “Context Isolation”Each Persona keeps its own conversation thread per chat. Switching from /leo to /planner does not show Planner your Leo transcript, and vice versa. If a Persona’s role is Friend, it also has isolated memory — it does not share knowledge with your Assistant Persona.
Platform Support
Section titled “Platform Support”Personas work in the in-app chat, Telegram, and WhatsApp.
Persona management (creating, editing, deleting) is done in the app’s Settings screen. Slash commands work anywhere, including Telegram and WhatsApp.
Managing Personas
Section titled “Managing Personas”To edit or delete a Persona, go to Settings → Personas, tap the Persona, and choose Edit or Delete. Deleting a Persona removes it from the slash command list but does not delete its conversation history.
